The holder of the certificate is qualified to:
- use expertise, IT and software tools in the resolution of real practical problems in the discipline;
- employ technical terminology, process data in order to obtain information and keep technical and technology documentation;
- examine and use technical and technology documentation, technical regulations, standards and technical plans when carrying out mining, geotechnical and geotechnological works;
- prepare the plan for the use of drilling tools, tools, machines, appliances and measurement instruments while performing mining and geotechnical works;
- put in place ventilation and drainage systems in mining and geotechnical facilities;
- identify cave ventilation characteristics and perform ventilation and water parameter measurements;
- examine geological structure of the rock;
- assess the sliding of escarps, avalanche area and dykes as well as their rehabilitation;
- conduct cave measurement surveying measurements and assess results;
- perform the sampling of dumping areas and landfill leachate waters and environmental mining monitoring;
- conduct technological preparation processes for the extraction of mineral raw materials and fossil fuels;
- carry out technological processes for the construction of underground areas, tunnels and shafts;
- perform drilling and blasting works in mining and geo-mining technology;
- perform procedures pertaining to storage, deposit and transport of raw materials;
- carry out technological processes in the rehabilitation and recultivation of areas and underground areas;
- take into consideration sustainable development when performing the activities affecting the physical environment;
- carry out and provide for measures in relation to health and safety at work as well as environmental protection;
- act economically, responsibly and socially in the working environment;
Optional:
Processing of mineral raw materials
- conduct technology processes of the enrichment and processing of mineral, fossil and secondary raw materials;
Performing cave transport and extraction
- use and maintain production and transport systems;
Geotechnical measurements and lab tests of soil, rock and materials
- carry out field and lab geo-mechanical procedures.
In addition, the holder of the certificate also upgraded his/her key professional skills and competences with key general knowledge and skills in line with national standards.
Students' vocational abilities and skills and the fulfilment of conditions to obtain credits in accordance with the relevant education programme are established through verification and assessment. Assessment of students also takes into account non-formally acquired knowledge, which must be adequately demonstrated. Students are assessed using grades from 5 (excellent) to 1 (inadequate).
Students may progress to the next year if at the end of the academic year they achieve a passing grade in all general education subjects and relevant vocational modules set out in the school's operational curriculum, and have completed all extracurricular activities and practical on-the-job training, or progress on the basis of a programme faculty decision.
Matura/vocational course, higher vocational education (SQF level 6), professional higher education (SQF level 7) and academic higher education (SQF level 7)
Students must successfully (i.e. with passing grades) complete all general education subjects, compulsory vocational modules, elective vocational modules and the open part of the curriculum. They must also complete extracurricular activities and work placement requirements and pass the vocational matura examination. The vocational matura comprises a compulsory section (written and oral examinations in Slovene and geotechnical and geotechnological works) and an elective section (written and oral examination in a foreign language or mathematics and a product/service with oral presentation).
