The certificate holder will be able to:

  • make up a pharmaceutical product (liquid, semi-solid and solid pharmaceutical dosage forms and drug extracts) to prescription in accordance with good manufacturing practice,
  • issue instructions for the use of medicines dispensed without prescription in pharmacies under the supervision of a Master of Pharmacy,
  • issue instructions for the use of medicines dispensed without prescription in specialised shops,
  • issue instructions for the use of herbal remedies and natural compounds,
  • conduct qualitative, semi-quantitative and quantitative analyses of medicines and tests of stability of medicines,
  • evaluate the effect, use and most frequent unwanted side-effects of medicines that are dispensed without prescription,

Elective:

  • conduct analyses and tests to establish the identity, purity and content of therapeutic substances, excipients, pharmaceutical dosage forms, packaging and dressing material using instrumental, biological and micro biological methods,
  • manufacture liquid, semi-solid, solid and sterile pharmaceutical dosage forms on an industrial scale,
  • sell and provide instructions for the use of food supplements, medical devices, cosmetic products and other products for care and protection of health,
  • communicate with customers in a pharmacy or specialised shop,
  • use computer software for treasury management,
  • prepare a simple business plan for a chosen business idea,
  • communicate effectively with people.

Certificate holders supplement their key vocational knowledge and abilities with key general knowledge in line with national standards.

Students' vocational abilities and skills and the fulfilment of conditions to obtain credits in accordance with the education programme are established through testing and assessment. Assessment also takes into account non-formally acquired knowledge, which must be adequately demonstrated. Students are assessed using scores from 5 (excellent) to 1 (inadequate).

Students may progress to a higher year if at the end of the academic year they achieve a positive assessment in all general education subjects and technical modules for the year as set out in the school’s operational curriculum, and have completed all extracurricular activities and practical on-the-job training, or progress on the basis of a programme faculty decision.

Matura/vocational course, higher vocational education (SQF level 6), professional higher education (SQF level 7) and academic higher education (SQF level 7)

Students must successfully (i.e. with positive scores) complete general education subjects, compulsory and elective vocational modules, and the open part of the curriculum. They must also complete extracurricular activities, practical on-the-job training and a vocational matura.

The vocational matura comprises a compulsory section (written and oral examination in Slovene and pharmacy) and an elective section (written and oral examination in a foreign language or mathematics, and a product with an oral presentation).
