  • A completed second-cycle study programme; or
  • a completed undergraduate academic higher education programme adopted before 11 June 2004; or
  • a completed study programme referred to in Article 36(4) of the Higher Education Act, if the programme consists of 300 credits and has a duration of five years (integrated master's programme); or
  • a completed professional higher education programme adopted before 11 June 2004 and a specialisation programme, together totalling at least 240 credits; course units totalling between 30 and 60 credits from the second-cycle study programme Management will be specified for such candidates and must be completed before enrolment.

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Students may progress to the second year when they have completed at least 30 credits from first-year course units.

In order to complete their studies, candidates must complete all taught course units (a total of 60 credits) and research requirements (120 credits) in accordance with the adopted study programme, and successfully defend a doctoral dissertation via a public presentation.
