Qualification holders are qualified to:
(general competences)
- communicate in an international scientific context,
- organise international trips of longer duration,
- prepare international publications,
- work in remote locations,
(subject-specific competences)
- demonstrate mastery of complex synchrotronic measurement processes,
- demonstrate mastery of complex spectroscopies,
- take part in international collaborations in the field of astrophysics,
- write international scholarly papers.
Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
In order to progress to the second year, students must have completed first-year course units totalling 60 credits. In the second year students submit a request for approval of the dissertation topic.
In order to complete the programme, students must pass all examinations, complete all course units in all subjects of the curriculum, and successfully defend a doctoral dissertation, for a total of 180 credits.
