The qualification holder will be able to:

  • undertake autonomous analytical work,
  • analyse social phenomena,
  • advise on various trends in social events, development and management,
  • synthesise knowledge in a specific field and apply it in the resolution of a specific problem,

  • undertake, coordinate and organise research,
  • use various research methods and techniques,
  • demonstrate broad, critical and reflective understanding of military organisation and civil defence, structures and functioning, (legal) norms and institutions and the dynamics of development of international and national security,

  • make a public presentation and argue a point of view,
  • express themselves orally,

  • respect the opinions of others and fulfil an agreed role within a team or group,

Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10). 

In order to progress to the next year, students must have completed all course units from the current year, for a total of 60 credits.

Second-cycle master's study programmes (SQF level 8)

In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units in the subjects in which they are enrolled and write a bachelor's thesis.
