The qualification holder will be able to:

General competences:

  • Analytical: The graduate will be able to perform independent analytical work, analyze various social phenomena and processes, advise on trends in social events, especially in connection with the development of new technologies) and management, synthesize specific field knowledge and use them to solve specific problems. He will also be able to perform syntheses and place analytical findings in real contexts;
  • Use of methodological tools: Ability to plan, conduct, coordinate and organize research and use a variety of research methods and techniques;
  • Knowledge of the social science information field: Ability to critically and reflectively understand social contexts that are inextricably linked to information and communication technologies, and the ability to understand related norms, institutions, development dynamics;
  • Strategic orientation in the field of social informatics: Planning, evaluation and the ability to look to the future, anticipating and predicting the development of events, finding solutions to fundamental problems;
  • Communicativeness: The graduate will acquire the skills of written expression, public presentation and argumentation;
  • Group work: Ability to cooperate, willingness to cooperate, take into account the opinions of others and fulfill agreed roles in the group;
  • Professionalism: The graduate will be able to analyze, coordinate work tasks and choose appropriate methods and ways of working;
  • Flexibility to manage change: Ability to act flexibly in diverse social and institutional environments, cultural contexts, in cooperation with foreign countries, in interdisciplinarity;
  • Use of information technologies: Ability to perform more complex information and mathematical-statistical procedures in the analysis, planning and evaluation of information systems in various social contexts;

Progression to a higher year is possible with at least 50 credit points of the current year (without a special application) and all completed obligations of previous years. In case of exceptional circumstances (specified in the UL Statute), on the basis of an approved application, those students who have completed at least 45 credits of the current year and have completed all obligations of previous years may also enroll in the senior year.

Second-cycle master's study programmes (SQF level 8)

All completed programme obligations and diploma thesis (worth 10 credits) up to 10,000 words, which must be publicly defended before a three-member commission consisting of two members of the department and one external member. Students who continue their studies at the 2nd level are not required to write a diploma thesis, but must prepare a research seminar paper of up to 4000 words, which is evaluated by two evaluators. If a student enrolls in the 2nd level and does not complete it, he / she must pass the conditions for completing the study at the 1st level without continuing at the 2nd level.
